There are many, many famous hollowbody players in current and older times — for a good reason. Their sound is uniquely wonderful and truly a pleasure to the ear. With many hollowbody guitars, options on pickups, wiring, and amplifiers can even give you a choice of sounds that extends from jazz to rock to country to rockabilly to even some forms of heavy rock. This review is about an open true hollowbody from the many offered by Ibanez. Just looking at the pictures for this review made me really miss mine! These are great folks… click through and help an old hippie earn some income? The AF75 series guitars have nice medium-thick hollow bodies that have a nice acoustic sound and feel to them.

Edit The Hoshino Gakki company began in as a musical instrument sales division of the Hoshino Shoten bookstore company. In they began manufacturing their own stringed instruments. The company had little presence in the Western world until the mid s. The modern era of Ibanez guitars began in and the late s and s Ibanez catalogues show guitars with some wild looking designs .
Using somewhat cheaper materials and greater automation in manufacturing, they were able to sell these guitars for a significantly lower price than the originals.

F is the production factory which stands for Fujigen. The first digit will be the last digit of the year, ie. The last 5 numbers will be the consecutive number denoting production count for the year with the caveat that each month will start at predetermined intervals of or , etc. Presently it is set at These serial numbers are usually quite different from the MIJ numbers, have many extra digits because of the enormous volume of guitars produced, and I am not familiar enough with any of them to tell you how to figure out the dating.
Cort Serial Numbers – Cort serial numbers are denoted with a C prefix followed by either 7 or 8 digits. I’m not sure what year the changeover occurred but using the formula it will be easy for you to tell. The letter denotes year, starting in with A, with a 5 digit production number. Z will be the year Month, production number that month, year. I do not know how accurate the system is but the few I’ve run have worked just fine. In a case where a guitar has both the true serial number will always be the headstock number.
Plate numbers usually follow the pattern of the first 2 digits denoting year of production followed by a 4 digit number that denotes consecutive production for that model for that year, or consecutive production number for that particular model from the models inception. In cases where generic non model specific plates are used the 4 digit number is just the consecutive number of that plate which could have made it on possibly 10 different models.

Go to menu top I never heard anything better than a Fender if we’re talking about the big manufacturers. Later on, in the Guitar section, I’ll also talk about Standel and EchoSonic , but they’re produced in such small numbers that it’s fair to say they’ll only have historic interest to the most of us So As long as you get a tube Fender you’ll probably be on the right track, because they all sound pretty good.
It doesn’t have to be vintage at all, but they do look pretty cool. Actually I started out playing a vintage Vox AC 30 and it wasn’t bad at all.

For more details on this topic, see Erotic art in Pompeii and Herculaneum. Among the oldest surviving examples of erotic depictions are Paleolithic cave paintings and carvings, but many cultures have created erotic art. A vast number of artifacts have been discovered from ancient Mesopotamia depicting explicit heterosexual sex.
The Moche of Peru in South America are another ancient people that sculpted explicit scenes of sex into their pottery. Additionally, there has been a long tradition of erotic painting in Eastern cultures. In Japan , for example, shunga appeared in the 13th century and continued to grow in popularity until the late 19th century when photography was invented.
In the early 16th century, the text I Modi was a woodcut album created by the designer Giulio Romano , the engraver Marcantonio Raimondi and the poet Pietro Aretino. An erotic cabinet, ordered by Catherine the Great , seems to have been adjacent to her suite of rooms in the Gatchina Palace. The furniture was highly eccentric with tables that had large penises for legs. Penises and vaginas were carved out on the furniture. The walls were covered in erotic art. There are photographs of this room and a Russian eye-witness has described the interior but the Russian authorities have always been very secretive about this peculiar Czarist heritage.

Congratulations on the new guitar. The Artcores are well made and use good quality electrical components. When you get inside, you’ll see that the wiring is very cleanly done.

Ibanez Artcore and Artstar Vintage range of hollow-bodied distressed guitars and basses Approximate reading time: Following on from the whole relic or road warrior guitar style, which has been a thing for a good few years now. The whole premise is to take some classic looking semi-hollow instruments and make them look as though they have played a few thousand gigs in smokey bars at a downtown venue all their lives. Or does it just look like a monkey has hit them with a bag of rocks, chipped the paint work, dragged them around a bit and added badly aged hardware to them?
The guitars themselves are separated into three ranges. And then come the basses: Okay my first impression was: Why name these guitars so badly? If you are going to take the time to age and give them a used look, even if they are based on specific models, then give them a decent name to differentiate between the various incarnations. I am not sure if I like the look of these aged ones, as judging by the photos on the Ibanez site the aging work looks a little bit over the top and heavy handed.
However, I will reserve judgement until I can go try a few out in person and see the finishes with my own eyes. The range is far too confusing to list out with all the individual models, so I have put a link below to the Ibanez page listing all the variations.

Ummmmm Ibanez” that’s the style of git on my wish list, used to own a fender Telecaster thinline (back in the 70’s) that was a sweet guitar, now I pluck around on a Fender beginner’s box, which by the way, for folks on a limited budget, is, I think a damn fine little guitar, good action, the only problem with it is, they made the bridge out of plastic, so when it wears down, you’ll get string buzz, but other than that .
Hand made pickups, from London’s East End Thanks for visiting the lair of the Guitar Weasel! Hollow body bass guitar. I have to say that people’s impressions of an instrument are always form by what they come to the table with like if it’s a famous name they might think Well, It’s going to be a pretty good instrument they cut a lot of slack. I remember years ago I played an inexpensive Ibanez bass that a student bass player was using and I said
Feb 06, · I have an Ibanez Artcore AF 75 hollow body electric. The stock “humbuckers” are at best average. I plan on going to a bone nut and upgrading the pickups and pots.
The AG95 is a looker, too, thanks to its nicely figured Bubinga-veneer top, back and sides in a dark brown sunburst. Add to that fancy inlays on the fingerboard and tailpiece, you have a mighty classy looking axe. The guitar is made at the Changcheng i. Its bound fingerboard with inch radius is rosewood with 22 frets, though I could only get up to the 18th fret comfortably. The body has a large pickguard, also finished in figured plastic veneer that matches the body material.
The hardware is gold, as are the gold-plastic knobs, while the tuners are capped in pearloid white. Also adorning the headstock is an inlaid lightning-bolt graphic. Feel free to scratch your head.
